Getting Centrelink payments?

CSA can organise child support to be deducted from your payment. Remember to also speak to CSA if you are getting new Centrelink payments or if you are no longer getting Centrelink payments.

Changes

If things change for you—like you get a new job, you lose your job or you have a new baby—you need to tell CSA as soon as possible. Changes like these can affect how much child support you need to pay.

What is the Child Support Agency?

The Child Support Agency (CSA) works out how much child support is payable based on what you and the other parent earn. We can help you by providing advice and options to suit your situation.

There’s a lot to deal with

Being separated from your kids and family can be very hard sometimes. As well as information about child support, CSA can also help you with other issues—including referral to organisations that can help you with housing, medical, legal and counselling services. Call CSA on 131 272*.

Who gets child support?

The person who looks after the kids can apply for child support. The children need to be under 18 and living with the person who is applying. If you’re an aunty, uncle or grandparent and the kids live with you, you may also be eligible to apply for child support.
