Have you been to Centrelink? You need to talk to CSA too. CSA needs to know
that you’re no longer working so you don’t end up paying too much child
support.
Got a child support debt and you don’t know what to do?
Talk to us. Don’t let a child support debt get out of control. CSA can help you
work out a payment arrangement that will work for you. We can also make sure
the amount you are assessed to pay is correct.

Getting Centrelink benefits?
CSA can organise child support to be deducted from your benefit. Remember to
call CSA if you are either starting benefits or your benefits are finishing.
Changes
If things change for you—like you get a new job, you lose your job or you have
a new baby—you need to tell CSA as soon as possible. Changes like these can
affect how much child support you need to pay.

Receiving Child Support
You may be able to arrange to transfer payments directly between the other
parent and you. Otherwise you can ask CSA to collect your child support for
you.

You can apply for a child support case if:

you are separated from your kid’s other parent and
-
your kids are under 18 years old.

To be eligible for some Centrelink benefits you may have to apply for a child

What is the Child Support Agency?
The Child Support Agency (CSA) works out how much child support is payable
based on what you and the other parent earn. We can help you by providing
advice and options to suit your situation.
There’s a lot to deal with
Being separated from your kids and family is tough; being on your own and
looking after the kids is hard too. As well as information about child support,
CSA can also help you with other issues—including referral to organisations
that can help you with housing, medical, legal and counselling services. Call

Who gets child support?
The person who looks after the kids can apply for child support. The children
need to be under 18 and living with the person who is applying. If you’re an
aunty, uncle or grandparent and the kids live with you, you may also be
eligible to apply for child support.
