There are a number of different ways to calculate the child support payable depending on your circumstances.
CSA or the Family Court must calculate the amount of child support payable if the other parent receives more than the base rate of Family Tax Benefit.
CSA encourages parents to manage their child support responsibilities themselves, where possible.
CSA will use a formula based on the incomes of both parties and the care arrangements to calculate the amount of child support payable.
If you and the other parent separated before 1 October 1989 and all your children were born before that date, you must ask the Family Court of Australia to order how much child support is to be paid.
If both parents agree, you may choose to make a child support agreement to determine the amount of child support payable.
