Child support is calculated using the incomes of both parents. Any changes to your income may affect the amount of child support you receive. If this occurs, you need to contact CSA immediately.
CSA uses the income from your most recent tax assessment when calculating child support. If your annual income is now 85 per cent or less than the income used in your child support assessment (in other words your income has decreased by at least 15 per cent), you may elect to use an estimate of your current income.
Contact CSA if you receive a lump sum payment, it may affect your child support. You should also contact the Family Assistance Office as receiving a lump sum may affect your Family Tax Benefit entitlements.
