Family separation: a guide for teens

Around 11,000 teenagers experience family separation in Australia each year. Developed in consultation with teenagers and parents, the CSA teen website and booklet (3.1M) help young people cope with family separation and change.

The site and booklet contain useful hints and tips, with contacts for support services.

Family separation: support products for under 12s

There are more than 750,000 children aged under 12 involved in separation or divorce in Australia every year. To support children there are two products available for children under 12.

An activity book for children aged between 5 and 7 years of age Our family's changed.

For the 8-12 year old children there is a CD-ROM game kid's guide to changing families.

Both products contain information for grown ups as well. You can order either product online.

Counselling services

Many community groups and organisations offer children’s counselling services. Check out our Community Services Directory for more information.

Kids Helpline is a 24–hour, confidential and anonymous phone counselling service for children and young people aged between five and 25 years. They also provide email and web counselling. Call 1800 551 800.

Headspace is Australia’s national youth mental health foundation, which provides information for young people and parents.

The National Children and Youth Law Centre is a community legal centre dedicated to addressing human right issues for children and young people through legal change.
