FAQ: Will I have money to support myself?

Yes. Before the child support formula is used to work out your child support, we deduct the self-support amount from each parent’s adjusted taxable income. The self-support amount for child support periods that start in 2012 is $21,622*.

To get an estimate of your child support assessment, use the child support and family assistance estimator available online.

*This amount is indexed each year and your child support assessment notice will tell you which self-support amount applies in your case.
