Salary or wages
If you receive a 'Notice to Deduct Maintenance Payments from an Employee's
Salary or Wages' you need to follow these guidelines.
Deducting from other payments
If you receive a 'Notice Pursuant to Section 72A' please follow these guidelines.
Protected earnings amount
You are not allowed to make child support deductions from wages which are below
a set minimum amount, known as the protected earnings amount (PEA).
How do I know how much to deduct?
CSA will send you a letter telling you the amount of deductions you must make
from your employee's salary or wages. You are legally required to deduct the
specified amount of child support from payments to your employee, as directed,
unless the protected earnings amount (PEA) applies.
