Child Support Scheme changes
The Australian Government is changing the Child Support Scheme to ensure it
meets the best interests of the children, better balances the interests of
parents and reflects today's community. The new Scheme also aims to better
reflect the costs of children.
The reforms will adopt recommendations made in The Ministerial Taskforce on
Child Support report, In the Best Interests of Children - Reforming the Child
Support Scheme, and will be introduced in three stages over two years as
follows:
As part of the reforms, the Child Support Agency is also improving the way it
delivers services to our customers. These service delivery improvements fall
under the Building a Better CSA program, and will be introduced over four
years.
The changes will be implemented over the next two years.
